Gabe Oxenberg ’26
I met with Gabe in the bottom of Lang building during capstone time. My very first question for him was how did he first get involved in sports? He told me that he has always been into sports since a little kid. Around 8th grade is when he really found a passion for basketball. He started training everyday. He told me that he didn’t really “choose” basketball. All of his friends in 8th grade started playing basketball so he signed up so he could play with them, but soon fell in love with it and dedicated himself to it. Gabe told me that his favorite part of playing is competing against other teams, and even his friends. He just really likes the competition in the game. Like many other sports players his age he has run into some difficulties. He told me there were some times where he worked really hard and saw other people who have not worked as hard as him do better which was very frustrating and discouraging. Luckily he pushed through it and is even a better player from it. One of the things Gabe is the most proud of is that his team won the championship last year at CSW. He says it was a great experience to play and win with his friends. One game he scored 24 points against Newman high school, which is one of the proudest moments as a player for him.
